Daddy and I went to the doctor on Wednesday to see you and to see how you are doing. You are pretty squished in there so this is the best picture Julia could get of your little face. We will now be going to the doctor every week, but after looking at the ultrasound, we may only have one more of those appointments. She was doing your measurements and I started looking at the screen and it said you were only measuring about 34 1/2 weeks, when you should be at 36 1/2 weeks. I also looked at your weight and it said 5 lbs. 3 oz. When we went in two weeks ago, you weighed 4 lbs. 6 oz. and I knew you should have gained at least a pound by our appointment. I said something to Julia and she said that you were measuring a little bit small the last appointment but this appointment it was too small. I asked her if it was because you were running out of room and she said that it looks more like the placenta may just be getting old and not feeding you properly. Then she said that if you don't make enough progress in your size by our appointment next Wednesday, that she is going to induce me on Thursday. I think Daddy's eyes got a little wide at that point! I am dilated to a two, so she said it wouldn't be a problem to induce and it should go fairly smoothly. The whole pregnancy, I have wanted to let you come on your own without being induced but since it may be necessary, I am completely fine with it and would much rather get you out so we can start feeding you better. You will be one tiny little thing and will probably not weigh over six pounds but we know that great things come in small packages!
We always knew that you had the chance of coming early but it is still shocking when she told us that we could meet you in a week, instead of three and a half weeks like we have been planning on. Then at the same time, we both got extremely excited because of how soon we could meet your sweet little face! Daddy and I keep saying that we can't get our hopes up of meeting you Thursday because then we might be a little disappointed if she decides to let you cook a little longer. Either way, we will be happy with whatever we need to do as we want to do what is best for you and whatever will help you the most.
Mommy has also not been feeling very good. I started getting a really bad cough and cold on Tuesday and actually ended up staying home from work yesterday because it got so bad. Daddy was so nice and came home early to take care of me. I really want to get better in case you do come on Thursday. I also didn't feel you moving around a lot yesterday and I got pretty worried, especially with what we learned at our appointment on Wednesday. So, I called the doctor and they had me come up so they could monitor you. We were there for probably an hour and Julia said that you looked wonderful and your little heart is beating just like it should be. That made me feel so much better! Today, you are back to your usual busy little self! Maybe you were just trying to let Mommy rest yesterday!
So, sweet little B, it may be a lot sooner that we get to meet you than we were planning on! We love you so much Sweet B and cannot wait to see you and hold you in our arms, whether that be next week or in a few more weeks!!
